The Los Angeles Lakers are a professional basketball team based in Los Angeles, California, and one of the most successful franchises in the history of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The team was founded in 1947 and has won a total of 17 NBA championships, tied for the most with the Boston Celtics. The Lakers have had many great players over the years, including Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O'Neal, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Wilt Chamberlain. The team's colors are purple and gold, and they play their home games at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.
