The Detroit Lions are a professional American football team based in Detroit, Michigan. They compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the league's National Football Conference (NFC) North division. The team was founded in 1930 and has won four NFL championships, although they have not won a championship since 1957. The Lions play their home games at Ford Field in downtown Detroit and have a passionate fan base known for their loyalty despite the team's lack of recent success.
