The team was founded in 1993 by The Walt Disney Company and named after the 1992 Disney film "The Mighty Ducks". The team has had a relatively successful history, winning the Pacific Division six times, the Western Conference twice, and the Stanley Cup once in 2007. The team's colors are black, gold, orange, and white, and their mascot is Wild Wing, a cartoon duck character.
