Houston Colts

The Houston Colts, also known as the Houston Colt .45s, were a professional baseball team based in Houston, Texas. The team was established in 1962 as an expansion team in Major League Baseball (MLB). The Colts played in the National League for their entire existence, from 1962 to 1964. In 1965, the team changed its name to the Houston Astros and moved into the newly built Astrodome stadium. The team's name "Colts" was a reference to the Colt .45 pistol, which was popular in Texas at the time. The Colts struggled during their brief existence, never finishing higher than eighth place in the National League standings. Despite their lack of success on the field, the team's short history has become a part of Houston's baseball lore.
